Festivals: Selections
This month, Unifrance provided support to the participation of French artists and films at 10 feature film festivals: the 2008 Festa do Cinema Francês in Portugal, the 2008 Pusan International Film Festival, the 2008 Singapore French Film Festival, the 2008 Montreal World Film Festival, the 2008 London Film Festival, the 2008 São Paulo International Film Festival, the 2008 Vienna International Film Festival (Viennale), the 2008 Beirut Film Meetings, the 2008 Tokyo International Film Festival, and the 2008 Rome FilmFest.
Short films and artists were also present, with Unifrance support, at 15 short film festivals: the 2008 Sitges International Film Festival of Catalonia, the 2008 Geneva Cinématou Animation and Fiction Film Festival, the 2008 Fundão (Imago) International Youth Film Festival, the 2008 Flanders-Ghent International Film Festival, the 2008 Osnabrück Independent Film Festival, the 2008 Montreal World Film Festival, the 2008 Corona Cork Film Festival, the 2008 São Paulo International Short Film Festival, the 2008 Molodist Kiev International Film Festival, the 2008 Uppsala International Film Festival, the 2008 Hof International Film Festival, the Abitibi-Témiscamingue (Rouyn-Noranda) International Film Festival, the 2008 Leipzig International Documentary and Animated Film Festival, the 2008 Curta Cinema Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival, and the 2008 San Sebastian International Horror and Fantasy Film Festival.
Support for Commercial Release
Unifrance provided support for the release of 3 films in foreign markets this month by covering travel expenses for 5 French artists:
Benjamin Marquet for the release of Lads & Jockeys in Belgium;
Christophe Barratier and Nora Arnezeder for the release of Faubourg 36 (Paris 36) in Switzerland;
Jean-Francois Richet and Vincent Cassel for the release of L’Instinct de mort (Public Enemy Number One – Part 1) in Switzerland.
