This debut feature by the French filmmaker Philippe Claudel has proved to be the 2008 summer season’s surprise hit. The film has succeeded in winning over audiences in multiplexes as well as smaller art house theaters.
Bolstered by critical acclaim and Philippe Claudel’s high profile as a novelist, Il y a longtemps que je t'aime has been released by in the Netherlands by the distributor Lumière in 22 cities. Four months after hitting the screens, the film is still showing in over 25 theaters.
Lumière predicts that the film should achieve around 200,000 admissions in the Benelux countries.
