The 29th Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival took place from January
26 January through February 3, 2007.
Once again, the event provided a rare opportunity for audiences to discover films from around the world, while at the same time highlighting the diversity of current French film production.
This year’s National Grand Prix was awarded to Philippe Pollet-Villard for Le Mozart des pickpockets (Karé Productions), a highly acclaimed film that also won the Audience Price and the FNAC Talent Award. A Swedish production, The Last Dog in Rwanda picked up the Grand Prize in the International Competition. The Labo Grand Prize went to Un amour de singe, a film co-produced by Japan and Singapore.
On the occasion of this 29th festival, the French Foreign Affairs Ministry, uniFrance, The Short Film Agency, and the Association "Sauve qui Peut le Court-Métrage" announced the launch of a box set of 5 DVDs entitled "Voyages en courts," showcasing a collection of 41 short films. Available on NTSC DVD for all zones, and subtitled in English, Spanish, Brazilian, and French, this program was devised with the aim of promoting the richness and diversity of French short film production, both in terms of technique and subject matter, and above all to boost the exposure of French films beyond the specialized festival circuit.
