Swedish television will turn the spotlight on François Ozon this year from August 7 through 12, 2006.
Following an idea initiated by the French Embassy in Sweden and Unifrance, the Swedish public broadcaster SVT - Sveriges Television) will program 15 films by French director François Ozon from August 7 through 12 this year on SVT2, the country’s number 2 national terrestrial channel.
Swedish audiences are enthusiastic fans of Ozon’s work, having first discovered the director five years ago with the release of “Under the Sand” by the distributor Folkets Bio. All the feature films that the director has made since that time have been released in Sweden by Triangelfilm. Since 2002, Triangelfilm has acquired the rights to Ozon films, which are then sold to Camera Film in Denmark, Future Film in Finland, and Oro Film in Norway, while Sandrew Metronome handles their video/DVD distribution for Scandinavia. In March 2005, François Ozon and Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi traveled to Stockholm to present a preview screening of “5 x 2.”. In May 2006, “Time to Leave” was the opening film at the 8th Stockholm French Film Festival.
