The filmmaker Robert Guédiguian, President of Europa Distribution, along with the distributors Régine Vial (Les Films du Losange), Fabienne Vonier (Pyramide Distribution), and Kirsten Dalgaard (Camera Film Danemark), announced Friday, May 19, the inauguration of Europa Distribution at Club Unifrance in Cannes.
This new association unites 50 distributors from 17 European countries and aims to improve the conditions for independent film distribution and to campaign for the recognition of the status of the independent distributor. This network has been created at a time when theatrical admissions show a marked decline throughout Europe, while at the same time the number of titles and prints released is rising at an unprecedented rate.
