Following an official meeting between Véronique Cayla, Director of the CNC, and Russia's Culture Minister Mikhail Shvydkoy, Unifrance President Margaret Menegoz brought together around twenty French and Russian producers Saturday, May 20, at 11.30 a.m. at Club Unifrance.
During this meeting, producers discussed the film production landscape in the two countries and co-production procedures in the presence of François Hurard (Director of Cinema at the CNC) and his Russian counterpart at Goskino, Sergei Lazaruk.
Among the participating Russian producers were Igor Tolstunov (co-producer of "East-West," "A Driver for Vera"), Sergei Chliyants ("Bummer"), Vladimir Dostal (President of the Producers' Guild), Yelena Yatsura ("The 9th Company," presented this year at Cannes' Tous les Cinémas du Monde program), Arsen Gottlieb ("977," presented at Un Certain Regard), Kira Saksaganskaya ("Dreaming of Space," also screening at Tous les Cinémas du Monde).
The following French producers also attended the meeting: Catherine Morisse (Légende), Hugo Bergson (Black Mask Productions), Charlotte Uzu (Les Films d’Ici), Philippe Boeffard (Nord-Ouest Production), Marco Cherqui (Chic Films), Catherine Dussart (CDP), Daniel Lesoeur (Eurociné), Philippe Delarue (Futurikon), Ilan Girard (Arsam), Carole Scotta (Haut et court), and Dominique Crèvecoeur (Bandonéon).
Russia is also the special guest country at this year's Cannes Film Festival's Tous les Cinémas du Monde section, whose official program opened with a day devoted to Russian cinema, entitled Russian Day.
