French actor Christian Clavier has accepted to travel to Russia with Unifrance to present a preview screening of "The Antidote" on November 8 in Moscow.
The film by Vincent de Brus will be released in Russia by Luxor Entertainment on around 50 prints. This distributor has in the past has been renowned for bringing French comedies such as "The Box" by Charles Nemes, "Double Zero" by Gérard Pirès, and "The Squatter" by Alexandre Castagnetti and Corentin Julius to Russian screens. "Double Zero" was a major hit in the territory, attracting 369,000 spectators and ranking as the number 2 French film of 2004 at the Russian box office.
A well-known actor in Russia (starring in "The Visitors" and "L’Enquête Corse" at the movies, and "Les Misérables" and "Napoleon" on television), Christian Clavier is the perfect choice to make the Russian launch of "The Antidote" a success. "L’Enquête Corse," released January 6, 2005, registered 240,000 admissions in Russia, and looks set to figure among the top 5 French films released in this country in 2005!
Christian Clavier's visit to Moscow will also be an occasion for Unifrance to announce the upcoming Siberian French Film Festival, to be held from December 6 through 11 this year. This program for this event, jointly organized by Unifrance and the French Embassy in Russia, will be presented at a press conference directed to Russian media representatives on November 8.
