Germany honors Agnès Varda

The director of "The Gleaners and I" will receive three awards in Germany (in Mainz, Berlin and at the Mannheim Heidelberg Festival) in the weeks ahead. Varda’s German calendar gets underway in Mainz on September 24 with the Rhineland-Palatinate Film Prize. The award ceremony will be accompanied by a screening of "The Gleaners and I." The next destination is Berlin where, on October 16, Varda will receive the Konrad-Wolf Award prior to a screening of "A Hundred and One Nights." The last date, November 11, will be at the International Film Festival Mannheim-Heidelberg which will feature a programme of several of Agnès Varda’s films and where she will be awarded the top honor prize An Independent Life.
