This move shows the studio strengthening its ties with the subsidiary of the Spanish group, Sogecable, specializing in film, television and video rights.
This acquisition will enable StudioCanal to reinforce its links with Sogepaq in the distribution field in Spain.
Sogepaq, specializing in the acquisition, management and commercialization of audiovisual rights – for film, television and video – boasts a catalogue featuring 700 titles, and also distributes in Spain catalogues held by StudioCanal, Sogecable and Universal Pictures Spain.
StudioCanal thus continues its strategy of market-penetration in Europe. Back in 2000, the outfit had already signed a number of agreements in France, Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Italy and Spain.
