For the 39th MyFrenchShort, Unifrance presents the documentary Their Eyes of Nicolas Gourault. This experimental documentary explores the intricacies of the working world and the growing divide between advanced technology and the workers who implement it.
The film is available to watch for free worldwide on YouTube available through October 9, 2026.
Their Eyes explores the daily lives of workers in Venezuela, Kenya, and the Philippines, who spend their days annotating images for American self-driving cars. In doing so, they shape the way machines perceive a world from which they themselves are excluded.
Screened worldwide since its world premiere at the 2025 Berlinale (in International Competition), Their Eyes has received—and continues to receive—numerous awards throughout its exceptional run: Best Documentary Award at the Leeds Film Festival, Best Experimental Film Award at the Sapporo Film Festival, Grand Prize in the International Competition at IndieLisboa, Best Documentary Award at the Kaboom Animation Festival...
