Taking place from November 11 to 13, these meetings will enable fourteen French sales companies to exchange ideas with Mexican professionals and deepen their knowledge of the local market, Mexico being a key territory for the export of French films.
On the first day, Monday November 11, round-table discussions will be held at the Cineteca Nacional, to review the current state of distribution and exhibition in the country.Exporters will have the opportunity to visit the world's largest film library, an essential element in the distribution of independent films in Latin America. A cocktail reception will then bring together the French participants, local industry, and some fifteen buyers at the Casa de Francia.
November 12 will be devoted to individual meetings with buyers at Cine Tonalá (Mexico's independant movie theater).
After Germany, Mexico is the world's second-largest territory in terms of admissions for French films in 2024, with 2.1 million admissions recorded as of mid-October. Among the year's successes so far areRobot Dreams (with an exceptional score of over 830,000 admissions) and the must-see Anatomy of a Fall (245,000 admissions).
The Count of Monte Cristo, released on more than 440 prints on October 17, should further boost figures.
Last but not least, the Tour de Cine Francés is currently criss-crossing the country, and should exceed 250,000 spectators for its 28th edition.
