Released by InterCom with an impressive 20 prints in circulation, "Taxi 2" clocked up 10,000 admissions in its first day on the screens. (03/06/01)
"Taxi 2" follows in the trail of the excellent results of "Taxi", which, launched in Hungary in July 1999, pulled in a total of 262,000 spectators. Released by the same distributor, InterCom (commanding 70% of the domestic market), "Taxi 2" hit Hungarian screens on March 1, graced with even wider release than its predecessor (20 screens as against 15). It attracted 10,000 moviegoers on its opening day, immediately ranking it among the top opening-day performers of the year. Topped off by an all-out promotional campaign, the launch of Frédéric Diefenthal's film in Budapest bodes well for a successful run in the country. "Taxi 2" could well match the record set by "Asterix and Obelix versus Caesar", whose 368,000 admissions propelled the little French hero into the year's Top 10.
