Unifrance's "10 to Watch" program, which was initiated in 2014 with a mission to shine the spotlight on 10 emerging French talents each year (identified at the festivals of Berlin, Cannes, Venice, Toronto, and San Sebastián, among others), will be given particular attention at this year's 2022 Cannes Film Festival with a special operation organized in collaboration with the talents selected in the past two years. Many of these artists will make the trip to Cannes to take part in this year's international communication campaign.
An initiative inaugurated by Unifrance in 2014, the "10 to Watch" program aims to contribute to the emergence of new French movie industry talents in the international area, as well as to raise their profile outside France (through contact with journalists, festival programmers, broadcasters and distributors, and foreign audiences), and, in this way, to participate in the constant renewal of new icons of French cinema.
Discovered during the major international film festivals, the artists included in this year's "10 to Watch" program are selected by a committee of specialized journalists (Elsa Keslassy from Variety, Lisa Nesselson from Screen International, Fabien Lemercier from Cineuropa, and Jordan Mintzer from The Hollywood Reporter). The list of the 10 to Watch 2022 was announced by Unifrance in January (see photo of illustration).
To shine a light on this new generation of French artists during the 75th Cannes Film Festival, a red carpet event bringing together all of the talents selected for the program in 2020-2021 and 2022 will be held on May 25, in the late afternoon, with the participation of Lucie Zhang, Rabah Nait Oufella, Karim Leklou, Anamaria Vartolomei, Déborah Lukumuena, Charline Bourgeois-Tacquet, Maïmouna Doucouré, Jérémy Trouilh, Fanny Liatard, Noée Abita, Hugo Sélignac, Anthony Bajon, Camélia Jordana, and Agathe Rousselle.
A number of these talents will also take part in the creation of artistic video content aimed at promoting the French films and movie talents present at the Cannes Festival on Unifrance's social media channels.
