For the 24th year running, Unifrance is hosting the Unifrance Rendez-Vous in Paris (January 11 to 17, 2022), the world's biggest market and press junket devoted to French films and, for the first time this year, French television productions, in an event format that is adapted to the current health situation.
For this 24th Rendez-Vous event, Unifrance will join alongside its members, as well as foreign buyers (present in Paris or participating remotely), in their wish to start the new year with a major professional event, which for the first time has been expanded to include television productions.
All of the participants will come together to focus on around 100 French films (a large proportion of which are market premieres) and a host of TV productions.
Markets
The television and film markets will be held, respectively, from January 11 to 13, and January 13 to 16, at the Hôtel du Collectionneur in Paris.
The 2nd Export Day event, dedicated exclusively to industry professionals, will take place on January 11, and will serve as a time of reflection on issues concerning the export and international visibility of French productions, both film and television. Click here for all details about this event.
The film market will open on the evening of January 13 with a screening of Simone: The Journey of the Century, by Olivier Dahan, at the cinema Le Balzac, held in the presence of the film's key crew members.
Following the opening of the market, 88 films (including 55 premieres) will be presented to foreign buyers over four days in 4 movie theaters on the Champs-Élysées, attended by 45 French sales companies.
For the television sector, pitch sessions and screenings of new, previously unseen programs (fiction, documentary, and animation) will be proposed to buyers at the Club de l’Étoile. In addition, the online screening room Screenopsis is already presenting over 350 TV programs available to be viewed by foreign distributors.
Press junket
Over 150 artists (directors and actors) from around 100 films that are scheduled for release around the world in 2022, will take part remotely to meet with the 141 accredited journalists (both film and TV sectors) from 33 countries, during four days of interviews held via videoconference. These interviews will be held at a major Parisian hotel.
In 2021, 880 interviews were conducted at the press junket, an event that provides a stimulus for the promotion of French films and television productions in markets outside France throughout the year following the event.
As was the case last year, the official photographic studio for the Rendez-Vous event has been entrusted to the photographer Philippe Quaisse.
The 24th UniFrance Rendez-Vous in Paris benefits from the invaluable support of the French government, the CNC, PROCIREP, the Institut Français, TitraFilm, Wallonie Bruxelles Images, Cinando, Parfums Givenchy, Piper-Heidsieck, Le film français, and Variety.
