Long absent from the media across the Atlantic, French cinema is back in theaters and festivals on the other side of the globe, as the international press attests.
In Argentina, the selection of The Salt of Tears by the BAFICI caught the attention of the Escribiendocine.com blog.
The Brazilian blog Papodecinema.com highlights "the humanist discourse" of Charles Aznavour, as it is evoked in Aznavour By Charles, which released in Brazil mid-February.
In the USA, Unseenfilms.net stated that the film Red Soil "moves us even as it forces us to think." The film was presented during the latest edition of the Rendez-Vous With French Cinema à New York.
Another piece of good news from the Americas is the reopening of cinemas in Quebec, where French films have been quick to appear.
Le Devoir talked about "an often unrecognisable Paris, where people talk more in Mandarin than in French," in reference to Night Ride by Frédéric Farrucci.
Le Devoir also showed us an Isabelle Huppert "as head of the gang" in Mama Weed, also out on release in theaters.
Meanwhile, Le Journal de Montréal acclaimed "Philippe Lacôte's magical realism" in his debut feature Night of the Kings.
Lastly in Quebec, Le Soleil published a long interview with Benoît Delépine for the release of Delete History.
In Europe, during the latest Berlinale, the enthusiastic critcial reaction to Céline Sciamma's latest film didn't go unnoticed. In the British monthly Sight & Sound we can thus read that Petite Maman "is a magical story of childhood love and loneliness."
The German blog Critic.de declared that "Petite Maman has it all."
In United Kingdom, Simple Passion released digitally. Cine Vue déclared: "Danielle Arbid captures viscerally that peculiar detachment that comes from romantic and sexual infatuation."
Slalom also released virtually in the country. Theupcoming.co.uk described it as "uncomfortable, arresting and essential viewing."

In Spain, Only the Animals hit the screens and El País wrote that it is "a ferocious French thriller in the form of a perfect puzzle."
On the subject of Régis Roinsard's latest film, The Translators, Fotogramas recommended it "to fans of the thriller genre and those who like working out mysteries."
In Australia, the Alliance Française French Film Festival was hailed in the press. Filmink alerted its readers: "This year’s choice line-up of 37 features has something to delight the most discerning cinephile."
