Launched on 31 January, there is no doubt that the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, the most famous of events dedicated to short films, will once again uphold its promise of providing a fine showcase for the jewels of world production. Unifrance will be present, and closely involved with the short film market.
A wide variety of films from more than sixty countries are in Competition. Alongside, the parallel sections, including a homage to Rosto, the marvelous dabbler who died last year and who, for certain, still experiences with us – from as on high as he may be – this wonderful adventure. So many stories which recount the world for the greater happiness of an audience that increases from year to year.
The Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival also hosts a market over four days, from February 3 through 6. 9000 films, 3600 accredited professionals. Who could ask for more?
UniFrance in Clermont-Ferrand
Unifrance is present at Clermont-Ferrand, like it is every year, and is represented by its Managing Director Daniela Elstner, and Axel Scoffier, Deputy General Director, to promote emerging French film talents. Eleven international sales companies will be grouped together under the UniFrance banner: L'Agence du court métrage, Autour de Minuit, La Luna Diffusion, Manifest, Miyu Distribution, Next Film Distribution, oriGine films, Premium Films, Salaud Morisset, Shortcuts, and Sudu Connexion, a company specializing in promoting and distributing pan-African cinema.
Among UniFrance's activities, there is now the established tradition of networking breakfasts: two have been organized, with support from TitraFilm and in partnership with Sodec, SWISS FILMS, and Wallonie-Bruxelles Images, on Tuesday, February 4 and Wednesday, February 5.
Each year, these meetings allow more than a hundred professionals to get to know each other: buyers, distributors, festival programmers, and journalists attend and exchange with the producers and directors of the films selected in Competition.
Other UniFrance highlights this year: two meetings to share information and exchange with UniFrance members, on February 4 and 5 from 3pm to 5pm, are on opportunity to discover the latest schemes implemented to enhance French productions' visibility internationally.
