To coincide with the global release of Atlantics: A Ghost Love Story by Mati Diop on Netflix on November 29, Unifrance offers you the chance to discover the director's short film Atlantiques from 2009, made when she was a student.
Ten years before Atlantics: A Ghost Love Story (winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival), Mati Diop, then a student at the Fresnoy - Studio national des arts contemporains, made the short film Atlantiques, shot in Senegal, which already explored issues relating to exile, the sea, disappearance, and absence. This documentary presaged themes addressed in her subsequent fictional works that, some years later, would serve as the foundation of her debut feature Atlantics: A Ghost Love Story.
As of today we offer you the opportunity to discover this short film (subtitled in English) free of charge until December 10.
