On the subject of French cinema and the adaptation of French literature to the big screen, Paul Schrader and Russell Banks sat down together for a one-hour discussion open to the public. Paul Schrader: "Scorsese says that for him, French cinema is a huge source of inspiration. For me, it all comes from Robert Bresson's Diary of a Country Priest. That's the film that made me the film-lover, then the screenwriter, and finally the filmmaker that I am. That's where it all started."
