For the third consecutive year, the AFCA and MIFA are joining forces to offer market accreditation at the preferential rate of €248 (including taxes) to French short film production companies.
The Association Française du Cinéma d'Animation (AFCA) and the Marché international du film d'animation (MIFA—the International Animation Film Market held in conjunction with the Annecy International Animation Film Festival) are uniting their efforts to propose a special registration fee of €248 (including taxes) to producers of French short films in order to facilitate their access to the MIFA film market.
This special rate is made available as part of the "FRANCE IN SHORT" program, which aims to support the growth of these production companies and help them gain access to the film market. An 18m² booth exclusively dedicated to French short film production will be set up once again this year at MIFA's institutional area in order to assist producers with organizing meetings and the presentation of their catalogues.
This preferential registration fee is reserved exclusively for production companies that comply with all of the following criteria:
- The company is the majority-producer of one or more short films.
- The company has never produced a feature film with a budget of over €1.5 million.
- The company has never produced a television series (excluding web-based series and series of short programs, such as collections).
Production companies with projects for feature films, television series, or 26-minute single-episode television programs that are currently in development are eligible for this special offer, provided that the criteria set out above are met.
In addition to complying with these criteria, eligible production companies may only benefit from this special rate for a maximum of three consecutive years.
Production companies with one or more films selected in the 2018 competition in the "Short Film" category at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival will automatically benefit from this special rate and are not required to meet the criteria set out above.
The AFCA, in partnership with MIFA, are the contact organizations for this initiative. They will centralize all applications via a non-transferable registration form to be completed online.
Production companies have until Friday, May 14, 2018, to lodge their applications!
This offer is limited to two accreditations per production company. Companies must complete a separate registration form for each request for accreditation. Companies not eligible for this offer can benefit from the Early Bird rate, which is offered until February 28, 2018.
