From February 5 to 9, UniFrance will be present at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival's annual Film Market to promote new-generation French film and new media works. This five-day event will feature meetings and discussions with international festival programmers, curators, and broadcasters. To celebrate the festival's 40th anniversary, UniFrance president Serge Toubiana will also be in attendance to highlight the event's key position in the international arena.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, which will take place from February 2 through 10. Over sixty French productions will be showcased in the various festival sections.
In what has become a traditional annual event hosted as part of UniFrance's participation in the festival, two Breakfast Networking Meetings will be held on Tuesday, February 6, and Wednesday, February 7. Organized in partnership with TitraFilm, the Sodec, SWISS FILMS, and Wallonie-Bruxelles Images (WBI), these informal meetings provide an opportunity each year for around one hundred industry professionals to meet and connect. As Switzerland is the country in the spotlight at this year's festival, Swiss representatives will have a particularly strong presence. Buyers from the United States (Vimeo), Italy (Mediaset), Japan (Pacific Voice Inc.), and Great Britain (Shorts TV) have already confirmed their participation, as have representatives from prestigious international film festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Tampere Film Festival, Kiev Molodist International Film Festival, IndieLisboa International Independent Film Festival (Lisbon), Curtacinema in Rio de Janeiro, and the Montreal Festival du Nouveau Cinéma. These breakfast meetings are primarily directed toward professionals representing films screened in the festival's competitive sections. If you are interested in attending, please send your request for registration to: benoit.blanchard@unifrance.org.
New Media
For the first time this year, new-format works will be included in the Film Market, gathered together in a section entitled Extended Visions. UniFrance will get together with professionals from the virtual reality sector—the Prenez du Relief association and the Courant 3D short film event held in Angoulême—during an informal breakfast meeting held on Thursday, February 8 (by invitation only).
