The Filipino director Brillante Mendoza is a member of the Directors' Jury for the 8th edition of MyFrenchFilmFestival.
Filipino director Brillante Mendoza began his career in advertising before directing Masahista (The Masseur) in 2005, which won the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival.
A prolific filmmaker, he was noted for John John, presented at the Directors' Fortnight in 2007, followed by Serbis, presented in Official Competition at the Cannes Film Festival in 2008.
A few months later, he presented Lola at the Venice International Film Festival in Official Competition. Mendoza won the Best Director Award for Kinatay at the Cannes Film Festival in 2009.
He was in Official Competition at the Berlinale in 2012 Captive, starring Isabelle Huppert. The same year, he was back at Venice in Official Competition with Thy Womb. He returned to Cannes in 2016 with Ma’ Rosa, again in Official Competition, for which Jaclyn Jose received the Best Actress Award.
