As is the case every year, UniFrance will be present at the market of the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. From February 6 through 10, 2017, the organization responsible for promoting French cinema will host at its stand the main distributors and exporters of French short films.
The five-day market will be punctuated by a series of events, such as the traditional networking breakfasts taking place on Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 February - supported by TitraFilm and jointly organized with Sodec, SWISS FILMS, and Wallonie-Bruxelles Images (WBI). These meetings will allow representatives (directors, producers, distributors) of films in Competition to connect with international programers, buyers, and cultural institutions. This year, Colombia is the guest country of honor.
For the market's opening night, Unifrance will organize its first cocktail party, an event dedicated to French virtual reality. Thanks to the support of the Courant 3D festival, this evening event will be an opportunity to reaffirm the vitality of new short film styles - of which VR represented the epiphenomenon in 2016.
Last but not least, on Thursday 9, UniFrance will oversee a round table with the representatives of the leading French short film markets to attempt to examine the current state of the sector, its recent developments, and its trends. Called "What Markets Exist for Short Films Today?", this round table will be restricted to professionals only.
