From Singapore to Buenos Aires, the 2nd Night of Ideas, initiated by the Institut Français on January 26, 2017, will this year tour the world and oversee some 70 events in France and abroad. Researchers, artists, and creators will come together to discuss the theme "A Common World." For the event, Unifrance, in collaboration with mk2 films, proposes a Night of New Images to debate the future of cinema.
January 26 at 6.00pm, the place to be is mk2 Bibliothèque (128/162 av de France, 75013 Paris), to think about and discuss the future of cinema and the emergence of new images and new distribution platforms at a moment when mk2 opens a new cinema devoted to VR and the 7th edition of Unifrance's online festival MyFrenchFilmFestival (January 13-February13, 2017) is in full swing.
This evening event will take place in the presence of filmmakers Rebecca Zlotowski (filmmaker and jury member of MyFrenchFilmFestival.com 2017) and Clément Cogitore (video artist and filmmaker), along with Elisha Karmitz (CEO of mk2 films), and Laurent Mannoni (La Cinémathèque Française, curator of the De Méliès à la 3D exhibtion). The debate will be moderated by Caroline Broué, journalist and producer at France Culture.
The public will be invited to interact with the participants on Twitter via #NDNI.
Free admission depending on available seats. The debate will be filmed and accessible live via Facebook Live, then on UniFrance's YouTube channel, and on the Night of Ideas website.
