The 14th Franco-German Film Meetings will be held in the German city of Saarbrücken on November 22 and 23.
Organized by Unifrance in partnership with German Films, the CNC, and the FFA, the Franco-German Film Meetings present a program of debates, presentations, and targeted panel discussions which will be centered this year around the topics of financing for independent European films, the notion of the single digital market, and the future of the distribution and exhibition sectors. Discussions will additionally be held with a focus on specific case studies relating to distribution and production.
A co-production market is also included in the program, which will provide an opportunity for a selection of French and German film producers to present their projects, with the aim of securing additional funding. This year, 24 projects have been selected to take part in this market.
Over 220 movie industry professionals are expected to attend this year's event, which serves to strengthen cultural and economic connections between the two countries. Since 2001, when the Bilateral Co-Production Agreement was signed between France and Germany, the initiative has enabled more than 200 Franco-German co-productions to be made.
Marie Masmonteil (Elzévir Films), who was elected president of the Franco-German Film Academy in May of this year, will officially open the event on November 22.
