The prestigious Sundance International Film Festival has announced the films selected in the various categories for its 2016 edition, with three majority French feature films included in the lineup, including one title in the coveted Premieres section.
The 2016 Sundance International Film Festival is set to take place in the small town of Park City in Utah from January 21 through 31. Three majority French productions have been selected this year.
This is an important acknowledgement for Yaël Fogiel and Laetitia Gonzalez from Les Films du Poisson, the French co-producers of the two documentaries included in the lineup, Eat That Question - Frank Zappa in His Own Words and The Settlers.
As for Anne Fontaine's film Innocentes, this is the first time since Goodbye Lenin that a production that is not shot in the English language has been presented in the Premieres section at Sundance.
Isabelle Giordano, executive director of Unifrance, hails the selection of this film: "This highlights the fact that French cinema is becoming increasingly audacious and winning over audiences beyond its own borders. We are delighted to see that Sundance is supporting this development."
