52 films have been chosen from 36 countries by the European Film Academy (which unites over 3,000 European movie industry professionals) as recommended for nomination in the lead-up to the 28th European Film Awards ceremony, to be held in Berlin on December 12, 2015.
Four majority-French productions feature in this year's selection (with a total of 19 co-productions selected):
- In the Shadow of Women by Philippe Garrel
- Mustang by Deniz Gamze Ergüven
- My Golden Days by Arnaud Desplechin
- The Measure of a Man by Stéphane Brizé
The members of the European Film Academy will elect nominees in the following categories: Best European Film, European Director, European Actress, and European Screenwriter. A jury of seven members will select the nominees in the technical categories of Cinematography, Editing, Production Design, Costume Design, Original Music, and Sound Design.
