Grégory Givernaud, actor in Skin by Cédric Prévost
"I recently had the chance to go to the New Media Short Film Festival (Kingbonn Awards) in Shenzhen, China, to represent Skin, a short film by Cédric Prévost. It was a great experience on many levels. Given that Chinese culture is very different from ours, it was really interesting to be able to interact directly with spectators who appreciate the film in another way... And I was delighted to note that, despite the cultural barrier, the film's subject (racism) was able to be conveyed and gave rise to many questions for Chineses audiences. This led to lively discussions during the question and answer sessions after the screenings.
Last but not least, thanks to this journey, I was able to establish links, both professional and personal, with the festival team and with the other directors present at the event.
To date, this is my third festival outside of France and it confirms what I feel about how lucky we are here, with our film financing system, French cinema's good reputation abroad, and Unifrance, which allows 'representatives' to travel abroad to promote our cinema and our talents."
