PT Multimedia, Portugal Telecom's subsidiary uniting the group's activities in content provision, recently took control of the communications group Lusomundo and has thus become its sole shareholder.
Leading the Portuguese theatrical distribution market as well as the market for theatrical and video rights, Lusomundo also owns numerous media enterprises. Furthermore, this group is well established in the theatrical market in Spain.
This development is part and parcel of a major reshuffling of the industry currently in process in the country, leading to the association of telecommunications operators and production industries. It enables these two industry groups to benefit from their complementary specializations: distribution and content.
