After winning the Grand Prix at International Critics’ Week at Cannes this year, Eléonore Faucher has once again been honored with the Grand Prix at the France Cinema Festival in Florence for her debut feature, “A Common Thread.”
The Florence France-Cinema Festival also awarded a Special Mention to Claude Rich for his role in the debut feature by Safy Nebbou, “Le Cou de la girafe,” in which he stars opposite Sandrine Bonnaire. Another Special Mention went to “Viva Algeria” by Nadir Moknèche.
The writer Emmanuelle Carrère picked up the festival’s award for Best First Film for his documentary, “Retour à Kotelnitch.” And finally, Alain Resnais was honored with the Special Jury Prize for the “rigorously French” style of his film “Not On the Lips,” which the jury qualified - not without humor - as "Resnais-Demy that is nonetheless no demi-Resnais."
France-Cinema Festival organizers Françoise Pieri and Aldo Tassone can once again pride themselves on the success of this event, which this year attracted around 10,000 spectators.
