The 25th Stockholm International Film Festival has honored Girlhood by Céline Sciamma, along with her director of photography, Crystel Fournier.
The festival's jury, led by the Swedish director Daniel Espinosa, presented its verdict at the closing ceremony held November 16.
The big winner in the Best Film category was Girlhood by Céline Sciamma, with the director in attendance to accept her award. The jury celebrated the film for "filling a gap in the stories told about Paris. As Marieme relates to the diverse characters in her world, the acting and directing strike complex notes."
The film also picked up the award for Best Cinematography for its French director of photography Crystel Fournier, who was also honored for her work on another film, These Are the Rules, a Franco-Croatian co-production directed by Ognjen Svilicic. This film also won Best Actor and Best Actress honors for Emir Hadzihafizbegovic and Jasna Zalica.
