Diplomacy by Volker Schlöndorff and Once in a Lifetime by Marie-Castille Mention-Schaar return home from Spain with several awards.
The Seminci in Spain, which celebrated its 59th anniversary this year, awarded a number of prizes to French films:
Diplomacy picked up the awards for Best Director (for Volker Schlöndorff) and Best Actor (for Niels Arestrup), while Once in a Lifetime by Marie-Castille Mention-Schaar won the Youth Award.
Both of these films are released in Spain by A Contracorriente Films, a Spanish distributor with a particular penchant for French films. To their credit, they have successfully distributed titles including The Intouchables, and now aim to reach out to even wider audiences with Serial (Bad) Weddings.
