The filmmaker will inaugurate his Amateur Film Factory in Casablanca, in the presence of the city's mayor and the French ambassador.
After New York, Sao Paulo, Paris, Rotterdam, Johannesburg, and Moscow, this one of a kind participative experience will be set up in the Moroccan city - mythical in the memories of film lovers - for seven weeks through March and April 2014. During his trip, Michel Gondry will also go to Rabat to give a masterclass about animation filmmaking to ISMAC (Institut Supérieur des Métiers de l’Audiovisuel et du Cinéma) students, and will be present for a Q&A session with the public after a screening of The Science of Sleep at the Institut Français in Casablanca. Lastly, he will devote a day to answering the questions of journalists and the public in the Factory, while also overseeing the Factory's smooth running and give advice to cultural mediators.
This project, led by the Institut Français and supported by Unifrance, is part of the Institut's 2014 France-Morocco Cultural Season.
