France's Auvergne region welcomes the 36th Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, a global showcase for short filmmaking, with which uniFrance films has strong ties.
From January 31 through February 8, 2014, short film enthusiasts from all over the world are gathering in Clermont-Ferrand, the capital of France's Auvergne region, to celebrate the latest offerings from the international short film world and to broaden the exposure of a film genre that continues to surprise, enchant, and challenge us. Spread across three competitive sections (the national, international, and Labo competitions), over 150 short films (including 60 French titles) will light up the screens at this year's festival. In addition to these films, the festival is presenting a selection of Regional Films (subsidized by and shot in regional France) and a series of special programs and retrospectives, which are also set to draw big crowds this year.
And since at Clermont-Ferrand short films are given free reign, there is little doubt that this intensive week of films will offer an abundance of cinematic discoveries and act as a springboard for budding new talent and previously unknown directors. The film market held as a sidebar event will welcome 3,000 industry professionals (including international short film promotion agencies, production companies and networks, and technical industries and associations), throwing the spotlight on their activities, their film catalogues and helping them to build business contacts.
