This festival is one of the world's largest movie industry events in terms of the number of films presented (299 films this year from 70 countries, including 134 world or international premieres), the number of screens on offer (35 screens at 7 sites), and spectators (217,865). Numerous directors, actors, and producers traveled to Busan to present their films at Q&A sessions and master classes.
The selection of French films included 16 productions, accompanied by Rithy Panh, Amos Gitaï, Rebecca Zlotowski, Philippe Muyl, Thierry de Peretti, Christophe Paou, Denis Dercourt, and Bruno Forzani.
The Asian Film Market (October 7-10), which is held at the Bexco Exhibition Center in a district where many cinemas are located, enjoys growing popularity and constantly rising attendance figures. 92 participants from 32 countries attended this year (double the number of European sales agents represented last year), with a rise of 16% in the number of buyers present. UniFrance Films took part in the market in cooperation with EFP (European Film Promotion), presenting a record 18 French sales companies (against 10 in 2012) at a booth with double the surface area this year. The Asian Project Market, a pre-market showcasing promising Asian filmmakers and producers, presented 30 film projects.
UniFrance Films was represented by our general director Isabelle Giordano and Valérie-Anne Christen, who is our market analyst for South Korea. Isabelle Glachant, UniFrance Films' representative in Beijing, was also present.
