Synopsis
Filmed over a decade in a sunny villa in Provence, Vacances follows “Grandmother,” a bohemian Austro-Hungarian countess, as she imparts wisdom by the pool and searches for a successor among her descendants. Dressed in swimsuits, the younger members of the family navigate their complex world, regressing under her watchful eye and resisting her advice. As the summers pass and the grandmother's influence fades, the heirs reevaluate her mysterious teachings. They begin to distinguish what is valuable from what is vexing, preparing to leave the villa.
