Synopsis
This film is a return to Cinéma du réel for Rithy Panh. We are facing a population, a way of life, and a culture that are in danger of disappearing, and there is an urgent need to recognize the tragedy endured by the Bunong, this Cambodian first people. The mountainous region, where a few families still maintain ancestral traditions, is remote. Its inhabitants are weakened by the loss of their land to international conglomerates and by climate change, which disrupts the seasons and profoundly affects the crop cycle in ever-shrinking and less fertile plots of land.
