The Mysteries of Paris
Synopsis
Eugène SUE wrote the masterpiece The Mysteries of Paris in 1842. It was commissioned by the newspaper, “Le Journal des Débats”, which wanted a serial story to captivate its readers. This serial was a huge success story: copies of the gazette were sold and resold, leased, or were read in public for the illiterate.
The contents actually offer a multi disciplinary interest to a young audience: at the crossroads of history, Parisian geography, literature and visual Arts.
Rudolph of Gerolstein is looking for the young Germain, the son of his housekeeper, dealing with the underworld of Paris. He will investigate among the good and (especially) the wicked, colourful characters from the various Paris circles: the working classes, the bourgeoisie and the aristocratic Paris. But, through this quest, he will discover and will have to face an intimate and personal secret...
