Synopsis
Sophie, a Russian orphan, is seduced and abandoned by Henri. An officer avenges her in a duel and then marries her. Based on a play written by French painter Douanier Rousseau, with sets and costumes that recall the artist’s singular vision. Several paintings further highlight his ‘naif’ style.
