Synopsis
In 1514, German artist Matthias Grünewald painted the “Isenheim Altarpiece”. Which artists and traditions inspired his work?
The second part, ST. ANTHONY’S FIRE, is exclusively dedicated to Grünewald’s most famous work: “Isenheim Altarpiece”. The painting is steeped in the strange atmosphere of the Isenheim Monastery, where lunatics stricken with St. Anthony’s fire were treated and which is captured in the German artist’s work.
