Synopsis
While Ségolène Royal fills France’s television screens during the presidential campaign, the movie screen pays homage to Marie Elyse Gbédo, the Beninese iron lady who, for the second time, set her sights on her country’s highest office in March 2006. The film reveals this exceptionally beautiful lawyer, fighting for radical change to her country’s political behavior. The film also relates the story of another Africa where politics aren’t necessarily a matter of machetes or bloodbaths, but a social combat where political commitment is accompanied by music, dance, and celebrations in a process that demonstrates the political maturity of this small West African country.
