Synopsis
In June 1999, politician Jean-Claude Gaudin organized a big party, La Massalia, so thousands of immigrants to Marseilles could demonstrate that the city was their home. In March 2000, the campaign for the municipal elections got underway. What had become of the new spirit that seemed to be sweeping over Marseilles’ politics? How many offspring of North African parents are eligible to stand and will finally be elected among the 101 municipal councilors?
