Synopsis
A slaughterhouse worker dreams of being a cabaret dancer. A farmer is suspected of infanticide. A television show host chooses silence, worn out by the lies propagated by Castro’s regime. “7 jours 7 nuits” is a baroque fresco depicting the interwoven paths of three young Cuban women today.
Nieves, Maria and Norma wander for a week through the peeling backdrop of a postcard Havana, whose underside is seldom seen. It’s a city caught up in violence where, to the rhythm of salsa, the slogan is: Survive at any cost. From drama to comedy, fanatical optimism to desperation, music to cries, the women’s attempts to forge their own destinies becomes a journey which is the promise of a better world.
The film was shot in secret in Cuba and is the first part of the “Cuban Trilogy” written and directed by Joel Cano.
