The Creator
Synopsis
Darius, a hugely successful playwright, signs a contract for a new play while in an alcoholic stupor. After drying out in a clinic, he returns to Paris and realizes that he has completely forgotten to write the play, which is due to open in one month. The star actress has already been signed. Darius sets to work, but inspiration has unfortunately deserted him. At the height of his despair, he confesses to the leading actress, who desperately needs this part, that he has to feel powerful emotions in order to be inspired....

About
"Behind 'Bernie' and 'The Creator' there is one thing in common: the wish to treat dramatic subjects in a burlesque, farcical way. Being less anchored in social reality than 'Bernie,' 'The Creator' seems more personal, but in fact it connects with another collective angst, the angst of creativity. Another thing both films have in common is that their heroes, Bernie and Darius, both fight against Death; they fight the inevitable. Life is a race against death and the best man never wins."
