Synopsis
In 1977, one year after Mao's death, Robert Chantegris returns to China with his ten year-old daughter Blanche. He is sent as an instructor to a community of French volunteers who are helping the Chinese build a petrochemical complex in Hangzhou. Almost immediately upon his arrival, Robert Chantegris becomes intrigued by "Lune d'Automne"'s ploy. This beautiful acrobat arranges mysterious meetings with him in the garden of the "Pavillon Rouge", where a troop of acrobats performs. "Lune d'Automne", we later learn, is none other than Robert Chantegris' daughter, born 27 years earlier. At the time, in 1949, Robert Chantegris was living in China, servin as a missionary. He fell madly in love with the beautiful acrobat "Brume de Rivière" and wasn't able to resist his desirous temptation. From the brief affair, "Lune d'Automne" was conceived. Robert Chantegris was then forced to leave China in 1950 because of communism, oblivous to the fact that he was leaving a child behind...
