Shaun is a smart little sheep who works, along with his herd, for a myopic farmer at Mossy Bottom Farm, under the authority of Bitzer, a bossy but kind and inefficient sheepdog. Life is generally pleasant, but one day upon waking, Shaun decides his life is made up of nothing but constraints. He decides to take a day off, and to do so, to make the farmer fall asleep. But his strategy functions a little too well and he quickly loses control of the situation. One thing leads to another and the whole herd finds itself far away from the farm for the first time. In fact, they end up in a large city.
How do you survive in the city when you're a sheep? How can you avoid being recognised and hence escape the sharp claws of Trumper, the terrifying manager of the pound?
For the herd, this urban immersion will be a hectic race, full of incredible adventures in which Shaun crosses paths with Slip, a little orphan dog, who dreams of having parents and who will make Shaun realize that he'd actually be happier with his sheep family back at the farm.
