    Synopsis

    Account of the religious practice of the Hauka cult, which developed in the late 1920's in the Upper Niger region. During ceremonies initiates become possesed by spirits which reflect the hierarchy of colonial authority (the Governor-General, the Admiral, etc.). The film records a ceremony in which a dog is ritually sacrificed and eaten.
