In the wake of the public and critical success of the previous festival that attracted 12,000 spectators, Unifrance along with Greek distributors, the Greek Cinema Center and the Thessaloniki International Film Festival are hosting the 5th Athens and the Balkans French Film Festival this year.
Screenings will be held at a commercial theater in the city center belonging to the Greek Cinema Center's Filmcenter theater network, and at the French Institute, first in Athens, followed by Thessaloniki. This year for the first time, the event has expanded to include the Balkans, with a selection of films scheduled to tour neighboring capital cities.
Under the presidency of Claude Lelouch, this non-competitive festival will welcome a French delegation accompanying the presentation of their films, composed of around ten actors and directors including Christophe Barratier, Gérard Jugnot, Patrice Chéreau, Claire Devers, Bernard Giraudeau, Abdellatif Kéchiche, Diane Kurys and Pierre Salvadori.
