After five days on the screens, Dany Boon's new film has attracted 211,271 spectators, scoring the all-time best opening for a French film in Belgium.
Nothing to Declare has registered an average of 3,768 admissions per print in Belgium. By comparison, Boon's previous smash hit Welcome to the Sticks, the most successful French film to date in this territory (1.2 million admissions all up), drew half the number of spectators on its opening weekend.
Not only attracting attention as a follow-up to the director's previous success, the film's appeal is boosted by the presence of the Belgian actor Benoît Poelvoorde and the film's subject itself, centered on the story of two customs officers, one French and one Belgian, at the French-Belgian border.
