For the sixth time around, Unifrance is organizing its Up & Coming Stars initiative, to be held on Monday, October 27, during the Rome FilmFest.
The idea for this program was spawned at the Franco-German Film Meetings (Rendez-vous franco-allemands) in Munich in November 2006, motivated by a desire by Unifrance and German Films to strengthen contact between up-and-coming movie industry talents from France and Germany. Since then, the idea has expanded to include other countries around the world.
Supported by this year’s patrons, French actor Benoît Jacquot and Italian director Luca Guadagnino, 6 French actors (Morjana Alaoui, Julien Baumgartner, Astrid Berges-Frisbey, Mylène Jampanoï, Fatou N’Diaye, and Guillaume Quatravaux), and 6 Italian actors (Michele Alhaique, Lorenzo Balducci, Giulia Bevilacqua, Federico Costantini, Olivia Magnani, and Katy Saunders) will be in Rome to attend a ceremony co-organized by Unifrance, Lara and Filmitalia. Excerpts from their films will be screened at the event.
French and Italian casting directors will participate in the initiative, taking part in meetings and exchanges with actors from both countries.
Media interviews will be held on October 28 with the actors at the Villa Medicis.
