Resounding success for the fourth edition of the Franco-German Film Meetings.
Record attendance figures
Chaired by the directors Jean-Jacques Beinex and Jan Schütte, the 4th Film Meetings were held from November 9 through 11 this year.
Organized by the Franco-German Film Academy, these meetings have become a fixture in the industry calendar, and this year confirm the progress made in joint initiatives undertaken by the CNC and its German counterpart, the FFA, in terms of co-production agreements and the co-production mini-treaty. The topics dominating this year’s Meetings (digital film projection, VoD, the relationship with television channels, among others), as well as the pitching sessions held for 20 projects, attracted 400 industry professionals from France and Germany, resulting in record attendance for the event.
French and German actors take center stage
For the first time this year, 16 actors from France and Germany were honored at the Meetings. This feature was one of the highlights of the event, and served to strengthen connections between the artists themselves as well as increase awareness of these actors in the partner country.
The following French actors were present: Amira Casar, Sara Forestier, Vahina Giocante, Clotilde Hesme, Joana Preiss, Yann Trégouet, and Malik Zidi. On the German side, the following actors were in attendance: Sebastien Blomberg, Jens Harzer, Svea Lohde, Christoph Luser, Barnaby Metschurat, Jana Pallaske, Max Riemelt, Florian Stetter, and Sabine Timoteo.
The Franco-German Film Meetings Association (French title: L’association "Les Rendez-vous franco-allemands du cinéma") is presided by Margaret Menegoz (Unifrance president). The event was made possible by support from the CNC, the FFA, Unifrance, German Films, Arte France, FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, the Bavaria region, ARRI Bavaria, and by participation from the Ile-de-France Film Commission and Rhône-Alpes Cinéma, as well as from German regional film funds.
